Set Up

Set up takes a couple of hours. We pre cut all the vegies and set up everything so by the time the girls go there it could just run. Our Ranger Guides (14-17) helped write and organise the day. The were a massive help on the day running activities etc. If you have a ranger guide unit or junior leaders make use of them. Something to note is – it’s handy to be able to put steamboats (lunch) in an oven if you have one handy. It speeds up the process.

Running Of

As girls arrive, have them sign in and collect their name tags. Send them straight through the portal to ‘Treasure Island’ where they start away begin to work on their patrol flags and get to know their patrol for the day.

Once all girls have arrived, and flags are finished, open. Introduce all the leaders and Junior leaders, go round the circle, and go over the ground rules for the day.

Send patrols off to set up their camps with the supplied materials. As patrols finish they begin the tracking and treasure map activity and then move on to making their lunch.

While lunch is being cooked, have the Junior Leaders run some team building, ice breaker games and theatre sports.

After lunch, start rotational activities – Sand Sculpture, Boat Building and Mermaid River. After rotational activities have afternoon tea and get girls to pack up their shelters and rotational activities.

Lastly run the Pirate Olympics. We ran two events a t a time as we had four patrols, and swapped over before moving on to the next two events. Once the Olympics are over , its time to close. Say your thank-you’s, and hand out certificate, information and badges.

This is all explained in much more detail in the above attached documents.

We had a fantastic day – and all girls had a ball. Hope your girls do to!

    1. It was! But the day ran really well and all the evaluations and feedback we have got back have been nothing but positive!
I know we have got 2 new Guides, possibly more. 🙂

Next year I’m thinking we’ll run a circus themed one 😀
